Lighting

Image
What is lighting in film? Why is it significant to film-making? Document, define, and list 6 lighting techniques. Provide examples. Lighting is the direction, quality, source, and color of a light. It is important in film because it creates a visual mood, atmosphere, and sense of meaning for the audience. Lighting direction is where the location of the light source is placed in relation to the subject.  Frontal lighting is when the light source is placed in front of the subject. Frontal lighting is a lighting technique where the light source is placed in front of the object.  Shadows on the face are balanced by the neutral lighting. Portraits and highlighting specific objects or subjects are the main uses for the frontal lighting technique. Ex:    Side lighting is when the lighting is placed on either side of the subject (left or right.) It sculpts the person's features and casts a shadow on half of the subject. Camera Movement Videos

Image
For this assignment, we had the task of creating videos to match the content of our storyboard. The purpose of this assignment is to  demonstrate the use of a storyboard in producing camera movement video clips to practice in creating our final film. Renee P. was the camera person during the filming of most our videos, however, I was the camera person during one scene when Renee was involved in the script. We used an iPhone 12 to record all the video clips.  The simplest camera technique to demonstrate was the ground level closeup because the name of the angle is self-explanatory, and it already gives you an idea of how the camera is supposed to be positioned. For example, the ground level shot is useful to show a character walking or doing an action without revealing their face. In our video, we used the ground level shot and zoom in technique to demonstrate a character running away from something in fear.  The most difficult technique to ex...

Camera Movement Storyboard

Image
While working on this assignment, me and my teammates reviewed different aspects that can be implemented into our films. These examples include shots sizes, angles, and camera movements. This storyboard helped us realize that we can use various techniques to demonstrates the emotions of a character during a scene. For example, a close-up shot could be used to draw attention a character's facial expressions. This can show their moods more clearly. The setting, acting, and costumes also plays a crucial role in our film. It can influence the tone of the scene at the moment. Using these aspects will result in a successful film!

How is camera movement useful in film? Camera movement is useful when the director wants to shift the audience's view without cutting the scene. With the appropriate camera movement, you may attract the viewer's attention and even evoke an emotional reaction from them. You may personalize how the story is conveyed, provide viewers information in portions, and completely immerse them in scenarios by using a range of camera motions. 3 . Who is responsible for camera movement in production? Research 2 famous persons in the film industry and list 3 movies that they worked on. Camera operators are in charge of moving the camera around the set. This ensure...
